Essex Wedding Photographer

Essex has become one of my favourite counties to shoot in — there’s a brilliant mix of grand estates, converted barns and countryside venues, all within easy reach of London but with a completely different feel. I’ve photographed weddings from formal country house celebrations to relaxed barn parties, and Essex venues consistently deliver beautiful light and real character. As a documentary wedding photographer, I let the day tell its own story — a few guided portraits, but mostly capturing things as they naturally happen. If you’re planning an Essex wedding, chances are I already know your venue, or I’ll be there early to get to know it properly. With many weddings behind me and more than 55 five-star Google reviews, I bring a calm, experienced presence to every Essex wedding — someone who’s seen enough different days to stay steady no matter what the timeline throws up.

A Sample of Weddings I’ve Photographed Across Essex

Hornchurch Registry Office — a straightforward register office ceremony, followed by a reception at a separate Essex venue. As an Essex wedding photographer, I love shooting these: the ceremony itself is short and unfussy, which usually means more relaxed light and more time for photos once you’re settled at the reception.

Wedding Photography Prices in Essex

Full-day wedding photography in Essex costs £1,800 and covers the day from morning preparations to the evening celebrations (10am to 9pm), with one photographer and around 600 to 700 carefully edited images. A six-hour collection for intimate weddings and elopements is £1,000, and a full day of photography with film is £3,600. A second photographer is from £400 and engagement sessions are from £300. Travel is included within a set distance; longer journeys or overnight stays may cost extra.

Areas I Cover as an Essex Wedding Photographer

I photograph weddings right across Essex — Chelmsford, Epping, Ongar, Brentwood, Colchester, Southend and the surrounding countryside — as well as venues just over the border into London and Hertfordshire. Many couples also plan an Essex ceremony with a reception just over the border in Hertfordshire or London, which I’m always happy to help coordinate around.

Essex venues range from grand estates to relaxed barns, and each one calls for a slightly different approach to make the most of the light and setting. Having shot at venues like Gaynes Park and Blake Hall before, I bring that experience into every new Essex wedding — so you get natural, unposed photography that still makes full use of wherever you’re getting married.

FAQs

Do you know most Essex wedding venues already? I’ve photographed at a wide range of Essex venues, and if I haven’t shot at yours yet, I’ll always visit beforehand to plan the day properly.

What’s your photography style for Essex weddings? Documentary-led with a hint of editorial polish — genuine moments as they happen, plus a small number of guided portraits.

How far in advance should I book my Essex wedding photographer? Essex’s most popular venues get booked up 12-18 months ahead, so it’s worth reaching out as soon as you’ve got a date, even if the rest of the planning is still coming together.

Can you photograph a register office ceremony and a separate reception venue? Yes — it’s common in Essex. I’ll cover the ceremony wherever it’s held, whether that’s a register office like Hornchurch or a venue with its own licence, then travel with you to the reception for the rest of the day.
